Replace an old fuse box or plastic consumer unit with a metal-clad board and full RCD protection, certified to BS 7671.
When an upgrade makes sense
- Rewireable fuses or no RCD protection, often coded C2 on an EICR
- A plastic consumer unit in an escape route such as under the stairs
- Adding circuits for an extension, electric shower or EV charger
- Nuisance tripping that affects several circuits at once
What is included
A new metal-clad consumer unit with RCBOs or dual-RCD protection, surge protection where required, every circuit tested before and after, a labelled circuit chart, an Electrical Installation Certificate and building control notification.
Price
Most domestic replacements cost from £495 to £695 depending on the number of circuits and any earthing or bonding work found during pre-testing. We confirm a fixed price before starting, and the work is usually completed in one day.
